Quality Assurance — Our Commitment on Every Order
At Nort Components, quality is not a checkbox — it is the foundation of our business model. As a sourcing intermediary, we are only as good as the parts we deliver. That is why we have built a multi-layer quality system that starts before the first chip is cut and ends only after you confirm receipt.
Our Zero-Risk Guarantee
Any part that does not meet the agreed drawing specifications will be reworked or replaced at our expense. This applies unconditionally to every order, every part number, every client.
Supplier Qualification & Vetting
Before any workshop enters our network, we conduct:
• Capability assessment: review of machines, measuring equipment, quality systems
• Reference check: verification of previous precision manufacturing experience
• Trial order evaluation: first batch assessed against drawing requirements
• ISO 9001 verification: certificate validity and scope confirmed
• Gear manufacturing audit (for gear suppliers): gear cutting machines, inspection equipment, heat treatment processes
Only workshops that pass all stages are approved as Nort Components manufacturing partners.
Pre-Production Quality Review
For every new order:
• Technical drawing review: dimensional checks, tolerances, surface finish requirements, GD&T verification
• Material specification confirmation: grade, standard (EN, DIN, ASTM), certification requirement (3.1 or 3.2)
• Manufacturing process validation: confirmation that the workshop can achieve required tolerances and surface finish
• First Article Inspection (FAI) plan: defined for all new part numbers
• Quality control plan: inspection points, methods, accept/reject criteria agreed before production starts
In-Process Inspection
During production:
• Dimensional checks at key manufacturing stages
• Material traceability maintained throughout production
• Heat treatment verification: hardness testing (HRC, HB), case depth measurement
• Surface finish measurement: Ra values verified against drawing requirements
• Gear-specific checks: tooth profile, pitch error, runout, lead angle (for gear parts)
• Photographic documentation of key production stages
• Process parameter monitoring and recording
Gear Manufacturing Quality — Specific Controls
For gear wheels and gear shafts, we apply additional quality controls:
• Gear accuracy class verification: DIN 3962 Class 5–8 as specified
• Tooth profile inspection: involute profile deviation
• Pitch error measurement: single pitch error, cumulative pitch error
• Lead angle verification: helix angle deviation for helical gears
• Runout measurement: radial runout of gear reference circle
• Surface roughness: tooth flank Ra measurement
• Hardness verification after heat treatment: HRC core and case, case depth
Final Inspection & Documentation
Before every shipment:
• 100% dimensional verification or statistical sampling (AQL level agreed per order)
• Complete inspection report with actual measured values (not just pass/fail)
• Material certificate review: EN 10204 3.1 standard, 3.2 on request
• Surface finish assessment
• Visual inspection: burrs, surface defects, marking/labeling verification
• Packaging inspection: parts protected against damage during transport
• Non-conformance report (NCR) raised immediately if any deviation found
Documentation Package Delivered with Every Shipment
Standard documentation (included with every order):
• Dimensional inspection report with actual measurements
• Material certificate (EN 10204 3.1 or as specified)
• Delivery note with part number, quantity, batch reference
Optional documentation (on request):
• First Article Inspection (FAI) report
• Gear inspection report (tooth profile, pitch, runout measurements)
• Heat treatment certificate (hardness, case depth)
• Process documentation (manufacturing route, machine parameters)
• Non-conformance and corrective action reports
• Traceability records (material heat number to finished part)
• EN 10204 3.2 material certificate (independent third-party verification)
Workshop Network Standards
• All manufacturing partners: vetted and approved before first production order
• ISO 9001 certified facilities: preferred, with certificate verification
• Regular re-qualification: supplier performance monitored on quality, lead time and communication
• Backup capacity: minimum two qualified suppliers per part family for continuity assurance
